Ree Drummond on Sending Daughter to College

Ree Drummond, the host of Pioneer Woman on Food Network, has seen her daughter, Paige, off to college. She shared in Instagram post Thursday afternoon detailing her emotions about their parting, and her well-wishes for her second-oldest daughter.

Ree Drummond’s Instagram Post

The Thursday post was as heartbreaking as it was sweet. Drummond wrote, “Red nose, trembling chin, tight throat, aching heart. Leaving your child at college is no picnic. I’ve done it once before and thought maybe this time would be a little easier,” Drummond captioned the photo.

“I think it’s a little harder. But through all the tears, I see this clearly: What a joy it is to usher her into the next stage of her life. Paige, I’m so grateful to be your mom.” She finished the post by including a heart emoji. How sweet is that?

The Wheel Turns

Drummond may be missing Paige, but she’s hardly got an empty nest. Her boys, Bryce and Todd, who are 15 and 14 respectively, are still at the house. Additionally, her husband Ladd is there at home to help out with the boys!

Paige is attending the University of Arkansas. While her mom might have a show on TV, it’s unclear what Paige plans on doing for a career. She does have four long years of college ahead of her, after all! She can certainly count on her mom doting on her and looking out for her, though! If the countless Instagram posts are anything to believe, Ree was very broken up about having her little girl leave the house.

They’ve got to spread their wings and fly, eventually, though! That’s just part of growing up. It’s truly the most rewarding part of parenting: watching them put all the skills you taught them to use in the real world. You can’t be around forever to protect them, and there’s no better test of their skills than college.
