Perfectly Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

You’ve carved the pumpkins and now you have a big slimy mess of pumpkin seeds, mixed with pumpkin membrane. Ewe.  Don’t worry – it’s as simple as water and salt to separate the mess!

Pumpkin seeds are full of flavor, extremely healthy and the array of flavors that can be added to them is extremely versatile. Salty, sweet or spicy. Read on before you throw them away!


Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Begin by boiling the pumpkin seeds with salted water.  Bring to full boil and then reduce to a simmer for 10 minutes.  Strain and transfer to a paper towel to drain excess water. Toss in a bit of olive oil then sprinkle with any of the below.  Roast in the oven until golden brown.

Once you’ve made your creation you can eat them as a healthy snack or add them to salads, yogurts, soup, homemade cookies, oats and more. Seeds can even be used to make a crust for your favorite fish, chicken or pie!

Sprinkle salt with any of the ingredients below or mix and match for a delicious treat.

Garlic Powder, Curry Powder, Turmeric, Black Pepper, Cumin, Curry, Cayenne/Paprika, Parmesan, Ranch Seasoning, Taco Seasoning, Buffalo Sauce, BBQ Rub


Prefer a sweet snack? Add sugar to taste with any of the below toppings or mix in a bit of sea salt for a salty-sweet mix like salted caramel!
