Today, we’re going to be making a fast, delicious Mahi Mahi recipe that you can have ready in ten minutes. There’s nothing quite like having fresh, tasty food prepared in less time than it would take to prep some meals! If you’ve had a long day at work or just don’t want to spend a lot of time cooking, this recipe is perfect for you.
This dish is very island-themed, being a Jerk-style grilled Mahi Mahi. If you love the Jamaican-style taste of jerk sauce, you’re going to love this dish. Be warned: it’s a little spicy, so make sure you like the taste of jerk sauce before you commit to making this dish! Let’s start with the ingredients!
For the Jerk Spice Marinade
- 1 roughly chopped red onion
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of white pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of dried thyme
- Green tops of 2 scallions, chopped
- 1 chopped jalapeno
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 3 teaspoons of sea salt
- 1 teaspoon of allspice
For the marinade you’ll just need to take all of these ingredients and toss them in a food processor. Be careful that you don’t make a big mess! Process the lot of them for 15 seconds and you should have a nice, flavorful jerk spice marinade! It’s spicy, full and delicious, carrying an island-style flavor that will remind you of the Caribbean!
You’ll probably have a bit of leftover marinade, but that’s okay. You can refrigerate it for a week and make the fish again later! If you want to store it for longer, you can toss it in the freezer for up to two months!
For the Mahi Mahi
- 4 5-ounce Mahi Mahi filets
Once you’ve made the marinade, you can prepare the fish! Simply get out a grill pan and apply two table spoons of the marinade to each side of the fish. Season to taste with salt, and then cook the fish in the pan for about two minutes until it’s brown. Then, turn the fish over and cook it for another 3 to 5 minutes, until it’s been cooked all the way through. Then, serve and enjoy! Give it a minute or so to cool down before you dig in.
There you have it, a delicious, healthy dish for the whole family in ten minutes. Pair with a side of white rice or roasted veggies for a yummy meal! Happy cooking!
