The Best French Toast Recipe

What You’ll Need

  • 12 slices of bread
  • 4 1/2 tablespoons of butter
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 1/3 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/3 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 6 eggs
  • 2/3 cup of milk
  • 2/3 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup of maple syrup

How to Make

Get a small mixing bowl and combine the cinnamon, sugar and nutmeg. Then, in a medium pan, melt the butter on medium heat. Crack the eggs open and whip them with the vanilla, milk, and spices mixture from earlier. Pour this mixture into a shallow dish, but with tall enough sides to contain the mixture.

Dip the slices of bread in this mixture and soak it well. Make sure the bread you chose is thick enough to hold the amount of the mixture it will absorb! This part is a bit messy, so be prepared to account for that. Once you’ve dipped the bread in the mix, the butter should be well melted in the pan. Fry the bread in the pan until it’s brown or golden in color. Make sure to flip the bread to cook it evenly!

Once the French Toast is all cooked and ready to serve, top it with syrup. If you’d like, you can heat the syrup up a bit before you top the French toast with it. Pair with a cup of coffee and a side of fruit for best results! Enjoy!
