Buffalo Cauliflower Bites, Just in Time for Football Season

Everyone loves hot wings, especially for football viewing parties! Here’s the thing, though: not everyone loves eating chicken. For all you vegetarian, vegan or health-conscious wing fans out there, it’s probably a bummer to watch your friends scarf down hot wings at football parties, huh?

Well, good news: you can make a dish that tastes just like hot wings from cauliflower. No joke! It’s eerie how close these are to the real thing. Here’s our recipe for buffalo cauliflower bites!

Buffalo Cauliflower Bites


  • 1 head of cauliflower
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond or soy milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika powder
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup spicy BBQ sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha sauce
  • 2 green onions cut into rings


Preheat oven to 350 °F.

Combine the flour, milk, water, garlic power, paprika powder, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl. This will create your wing batter!

Cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets and dip the florets into the batter, and make sure they’re completely coated. Roll them in the panko breadcrumbs, then line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set the cauliflower on the sheet. Be careful, though: you don’t want to stack the florets on top of each other! Bake the florets for 25 minutes.

Once they’re ready, remove them from the oven and dip them in the spicy BBQ sauce. Make sure you get an even coat! Then, put them back on the baking sheet. If you’re a fan of the sweet, tangy flavor of sriracha, add some to the cauliflower now. If not, that’s okay! Once they’re coated in the sauces you want to use, bake them for another 25 minutes.

Once they’re done, just sprinkle the green onions on top! Serve with vegan ranch and celery to complete the meal! These pair great with lagers and crisp beers like hefeweizen. Enjoy!
